Commuter rail is latest delusional attempt at believing we are really in control of development
Proponents of commuter rail in central Florida are ignoring the reality that it holds prospects for limited success in central Florida.  Beyond believing it can be successful, however, they have little other hope to hold onto.

Honoring heroes of the past should include meeting needs of the present
Elected officials in Longwood and Winter Springs say it is more of a priority to fund honor for fallen heroes of the past than for current members of their community.

In School Board's view, to save the village, you must destroy it
The School Board's sense of community is that to save the community you must uproot the community. You know the concept: to save the village you must destroy it. Shooting off your mouth can now lead to shooting in the street
There was a time, not long ago, when violence was considered the refuge of last resort.  The goal was a less-violent society that placed a premium on reducing senseless acts of violence.  The government, at least in Florida, now takes a different approach, and thinks it healthy to encourage acts of violence among its citizens.

The road to unintended consequences is paved with good intentions
Despite the good intentions of Winter Springs city officials, the unintended consequences of their actions will prove more harmful than helpful.

Playing strong defense that is highly offensive: UCF's goal of home field advantage
As legitimate as the need for an on-campus football stadium may be, University of Central Florida officials have further damaged their relationship with many residential neighbors.  It is up to UCF officials to restore trust to the relationship.

Winter Springs commissioners make mockery of responsible development
Winter Springs commissioners choose an easy laugh over hard decisions, meaning city residents will pay the price in the future.

We have created the monster that taunts our children
The monster of growth that we have created is now coming back to bear heavily on the lives of our children.  We have created the monster that taunts them, and now we must start to tame it.
