Getting elected as a county commissioner is one thing. Acting effectively in the role is another. To see that, all one has to do is to compare Bob Dallari's performance in office with that of Brenda Carey.

Just like a decade ago, commissioners lack courage to take necessary action
Seminole County commissioners agree that the county's public library system is in serious need of improvement. They said the same thing ten years ago. Just as they failed to act then, they seem afraid to act now to take the proper steps needed to make the necessary improvements.

Bandwagon rolling through Seminole may not be taking proper path
Outgoing Casselberry City Manager Frank Clifton advised commissioners of the dangers of jumping on the sexual offender bandwagon that is rolling through Seminole County. Hopefully, they will heed his warnings.

Evidently, County Commissioner Brenda Carey no longer believes in the words she espoused to help become elected. Consider her comments and performance at last week's commission meeting, during discussion of the one-cent increase on motor fuel.

In School Board's view, to save the village, you must destroy it
The School Board's sense of community is that to save the community you must uproot the community. You know the concept: to save the village you must destroy it. When our leaders asserted that to be the case in Vietnam, it was reflective of their presumptive arrogance of power. It is no different coming from the School Board.
